No that far away from Old St Mellons is Tredegar House, a wonderful place for any family to visit throughout the year for it’s heritage and lovely countryside walks. There’s also a children’s play area as well as lake. Don’t forget the bread to feed the ducks!

Although not located in Old St Mellons, It may be worth a visit to the Sea Wall. It’s really nice in the summer where you’ll have often a cool breeze and the sun shining. You can walk or cycle along by the Sea Wall all the way up until the lighthouse pub and more..

You can either drive here, I recommend parking at either the Six Bells pub and then walking between the lane (sign posted to sea wall) or to Park at the Lighthouse Pub.  If you’re into cycling then either get there by the two ways mentioned above or via a signposted lane signed posted from St Brides by the Garden Nursery.

Please be aware that if you plan to take your bicycle you may have to lift your bike over styles and gates if you plan to travel along the sea wall. But Worth it!

To get there you’ll cross one of these railway bridges, often worth a stop to have a short break (if you’re on your bike or walking/running) to watch the trains go by. If you wave they’ll sometimes beep their horn too!

If the Sea Wall Walk isn’t for you then why not take a stroll around the Old St Mellons Village. One of my most popular routes on summer mornings or afternoons is the route from the Village Playing Field on Ty’r Winch Road.

Often taking some snacks with me you can either stop off at the Playing Field to sit down at one of the picnic benches to enjoy your lunch in the beautiful countryside or by enjoying your lunch at the end of the route in Heritage Park. It’s quite enjoyable to take your time and take in the views of the village and surrounding area as you might not usually get that option whilst driving through. You could even take a detour via the Baptist Church… feel free to customise your route.

If you plan your times correctly you could enjoy a pint or a bite to eat in one of the Village’s Public Houses.

In the heart of Old St. Mellons, at the rear of the Playing Fields in Ty’r Winch Road , are two excellent Tennis Courts. The tennis courts a free to use on a first come first serve basis.

The Old St. Mellons Tennis Courts is part of the Old St. Mellons Village Association.
